ASHNA GUPTA - 'SILENT SCREAMS'

Ashna's series of images is inspired by the horror film genre. As a huge fan of horror and thriller movies, she hopes that her work will give the viewer a real thriller experience. She is fascinated by how specific scenes are shot in a film in order to create a moment of suspense for the audience. Throughout this project, she wanted to evoke a sense of the uncanny by recreating scenarios that may occur in a horror film. She chose the title of Silent Screams because she wanted her photographs to be simple yet powerful. 

Ashna is born and bred in the UK. She is more familiar with landscape and portraiture photography. Her family originates from India, so she has always loved photographing weddings and events from her culture. For her final project, she wanted to take a different approach by shooting a series of frightening images.
